【本大会の位置づけについて, The significance of this tournament】
盛岡市アイスリンクメモリアルカップは、WCTJの理念を共有する大会の一つとして開催しております。
近年、日本カーリング協会の代表選考においては、世界チームランキング（World Team Ranking：WTR）が重要な指標となっており、国内外の大会における成績が、選手・チームの評価に直接的に反映される仕組みとなっています。本大会もまた、そのような競技環境の中で、選手がポイントを獲得し、次のステージへとつながる機会を提供する大会として位置づけています。
The Morioka City Ice Rink Memorial Cup is held as one of the tournaments that shares the philosophy of the WCTJ.
In recent years, the World Team Ranking (WTR) has become a key indicator in the Japan Curling Association’s selection process for national teams, with results from domestic and international tournaments directly influencing the evaluation of players and teams.
Against this competitive backdrop, this tournament is positioned as an event that offers athletes the opportunity to earn points and progress to the next stage.
【大会としての考え方, Our approach to the tournament】
一方で、本大会は単にポイント獲得の場にとどまらず、
- 地域におけるカーリング競技の発展
- 国内外のチームとの交流
- 競技力向上のための実戦機会の提供
といった役割を併せ持つ大会として継続してまいりました。
2015年の盛岡市アイスリンク供用開始を契機として始まった本大会は、普及と強化の双方を担う大会として、その役割を発展させてきています。
At the same time, this tournament has continued to serve not merely as a venue for earning points, but also as an event that fulfils the following roles:
- the development of curling in the region
- exchange with teams from both Japan and abroad
- providing opportunities for competitive play to enhance sporting ability
Launched in 2015 to coincide with the opening of the Morioka City Ice Rink, this tournament has continued to evolve its role as an event dedicated to both promoting the sport and strengthening competitive standards.
